Creating Freedom Mini Retreat

Couldn’t we all use a little creative play and reconnection in February? I know I sure can, and I would like to invite 12 friends to join me!

On Friday, February 4 we will explore art as a response to time spent with the Lord in devotions. We will start our day in worship and read a devotion together, then dive right in to working in mixed media in our journals to respond creatively to what was stirred up during our time with the Lord. I will share with you my method for Devotional Creativity, which allows us to let go of the need to control the outcome of our play and really engage with the Holy Spirit

On Saturday, February 5, 10-4, we will alter children’s board books into lovely art books. We will illustrate our favorite scripture, quote, poem or song lyric on the pages of our richly decorated book. We will start with a child’s board book as our base and prep the pages. We will add layers of paint and collage and marks and pattern to create beautiful artwork that illustrates the impact of our chosen verses. This is a wonderful way to create a keepsake as a reminder to yourself or as a gift for a treasured friend.

Class will take place at Amy’s studio at 1093 Doub’s Chapel Road West End, NC. Class will run fro 10 AM to 4PM each day with a 45 minute break for lunch.
Most supplies will be provided.

Students may take both classes or just one.
